vacation is over...

so, after a lovely week off from my day job, the realization that i must return tomorrow is upon me. oh, well, it was at least a very lovely week away. kahlin and i spent a good (and very relaxing) portion of the week with my parents in arizona. while there, we visited kartchner caverns, checked out their new horses, did a little sightseeing, watched some world cup action, and visited with family. one of the highlights was being there for the first rain of the season, during which i snapped a pic of this amazing view:

also, i got some much-needed work done on a knitting project i've been thinking about for a while now, a baby dress that's the second knitting pattern i've designed. i'm crossing my fingers that it fits properly, as i don't have any one-year-olds to test it out on, but baby barbara was happy to model it for me...

since returning home, i've been working on two custom bags, a larger version of the brooksher bag to be used as a diaper bag and also a reversible messenger-style nora bag. finished both tonight! still need to take pics of the nora, but here's a preview of the enlarged brooksher. especially check out my new tags! i ordered them from angie at remember wynn and i am absolutely ecstatic with how they turned out. check out her etsy site - she makes amazing things and was a joy to work with.

i've updated my in-stock fabrics slide show, so there are a few new ones in there if you're looking for some inspiration. lots of new things to come as i get ready for some upcoming festivals; i'll be sure to keep you updated!

brooksher bags are here! as well as new noras and madeleines

in preparation for next weekend's second sunday event, i've been working really hard on some new bags. nine new bags, to be exact. except for that pesky slip-stitching, they're all done and here are some pics! hope to have them listed on etsy soon :)

new brooksher bags:

madeleines:

nora bags:

in my down time (ha!), there's been a lot of gardening happening around here as well. the heirloom tomatoes are finally starting along with the red bell peppers. some of the herbs are starting to bolt, so we've been trying to cut them back (mostly just the cilantro and thai basil for now). also, the eggplant, bush beans and strawberries are looking particularly healthy. can't wait until we can start eating everything! here are a few pics from the porch garden:

and finally... here's a little example of what life is like when you're a cutie-pie kitty living with a five-year-old.
