what's new? and where is spring?

greetings, friends!

we've been knee-deep in reusable sandwich bags here for the last few weeks, but it would seem that the end of the custom orders is near. this is def good news, since it means that hopefully i'll be getting some more sets listed on etsy soon. in the meantime, there are some new listings for recycled felt coffee cup sleeves and some bread bags listed as well.

today i had the pleasure of attending the grand opening celebrations at the all-new sewn studio in oakley and it was every bit as lovely as i had hoped! the staff was friendly and sweet, the fabrics were great to browse (of course), and the store itself is spacious, well laid out and it just felt like a nice place to be (see pic below). all very good news, as i view myself spending more time there in the future. great collections of anna maria horner, amy butler, moda, kate spain's new central park, riley blake, and blank quilting (a new one for me). i picked up some of blank quilting's lovely morning and veggie patch, some additional yardage of riley blake's summer song, and some other odds & ends. and i won a drawing. yay! so for all of you in the cincinnati area, this is a must see. they're also offering some sewing classes coming up soon, so even if you're a beginner, there's no excuse for you to avoid stopping by and saying hello to the lovely folks at sewn studio.

next on the agenda here are some custom bag orders i've, ahem, been putting off for far too long. some brookshers and a nora, to be exact. and i have some new bag designs that just may be debuting on the etsy site soon... a generously sized tote bag and a mini-tote perfect for everyday use. also, i've been playing with the idea of larger versions of the reusable sandwich bags that could be used to replace gallon and quart size ziploc bags. and i've had a few requests for lunch bags good for toting around the reusable sandwich bags. (i may or may not have whipped one up and tested it out last week :) so stay tuned for some great stuff coming as we slowly melt our way out of this long winter and let yourself be inspired by spring!
oh, and i almost forgot! we're getting close to having our sister store, llamas and lemon bars, up and running on etsy as well. there we'll be featuring nick's fantastically tasty organic treats... chocolate chip blondies, brownies, cranberry blondies, and hazelnut cream cheese brownies, to name a few. in the meantime, check out my little graphic design project of the weekend - llamas and lemon bars magnets specially designed for the crafty supermarket swag bags. big thanks to elizabeth skipper of it's raining crafts and dogs for her help with the logo design!
enjoy your weekend!!

family tree and other goings on

happy almost-valentine's day! i've been thinking this week about something lovely to make for my valentine and i was inspired by the gorgeous screen-printed family trees at cozy blue. so this morning, i got out my x-acto and went to work. here's what happened:

i'm calling it a success and it's already on the wall (yeah, yeah... i couldn't wait until monday for the big reveal).

last week, i posted the first bread bag and reusable sandwich bags on etsy and was pleasantly surprised to sell the bread bag and one set of sandwich bags before noon the next day! i'm still working on some sandwich bag custom orders (13!) and also hoping to get some extras made to list on etsy as well. we've been using the sandwich bags at home for a few weeks now and i have to say that i really like them. super easy to clean, convenient to use, and it feels good to not be wasting those pesky ziploc bags. i have a few related project ideas up my sleeve, but i've promised not to talk about/post them until i wade my way through the orders i already have, so stay tuned for that! in the meantime, here are a few shots of the lovely sandwich bags:

what else? hmmm... today's the big day for one lucky fayette, as she'll be auctioned off at the wyso silent auction. it's exciting to think about a lucky public radio supporter getting to take home this cutie-pie dollie.

so, i'm off to work on all this (and more). enjoy your weekend and keep it crafty!
